The Structural and Earthquake Engineering Laboratory of the Department of Civil Engineering of METU was established in 1957. The Laboratory, which was moved to the current campus in 1964, is one of Turkey's first structural and earthquake engineering research laboratories. It has been conducting experimental structural research on large-scale for nearly six decades, contributing to state-of-the-art structural science and earthquake engineering over the years.
